This diamondback rattlesnake has come to remind us to be cautious and respectful of our local snake populations this summer season!

~ ~ I grew up in an area that was rattlesnake prone. As a child I loved being outside. Feasting on the strawberry patch in my garden and playing in the tall dry grasses. I remember my dad always telling me to "stay out of the tall grass", but I didn't listen. I braved nature. And when the rattlesnake grass quaked in the wind my ears would prick. Always alert to the idea that it could be a snake! Thankfully it never was, a great angry snake with dripping fangs, but my early childhood was filled with respect and fear of them. ~ ~
